OUR MISSION

The Branford Republican Town Committee is committed to developing effective government that serves community needs. We actively identify, recruit, and provide support to individuals interested in participating in state and municipal government. Our focus is to increase public awareness of our organization’s goals and vision for Branford. We welcome and encourage all registered Republicans to participate in our mission.

OUR POSITION ON ISSUES

TAXES: Branford Republican RTM members fought for a “0” increase budget for FY 2009-2010 keeping their promise to oppose any budget that would increase property taxes this year. The Democratic majority prevailed and property taxes will increase again this year.

EDUCATION: Branford Republicans fully understand that the highest quality education is the best investment we can make in our children. We also understand that there is only an indirect correlation between that and teacher salaries.
Republican RTM members voted against the recent teachers’ contract because of its 4.5% cost increase and later argued for reducing their raises by 1% to share the burden of these economic times.

ENVIRONMENT: Better than 70% of the OPEN SPACE LAND acquired for public use in the Town of Branford since 1980 has been done under Republican administrations. Branford Republicans understand the balance between development and environmental protection and preservation.
We support responsible development that will lessen the burden on our tax payers while avoiding the mistakes of the past.

PUBLIC SERVICES: Branford Republicans support quality municipal facilities and services while always being mindful of the costs associated with them. To maximize the cost/ benefit ratio, Branford Republicans always look for opportunities and explore new possibilities. Partnering with our neighboring communities on high cost equipment and services is an exciting new concept that we endorse.

We Will Always Remember, But We Should Never Forget

From sea to shining sea, memorial ceremonies are taking place today to commemorate the terrorist attacks that happened eight years ago. 9-11 has become a day in the nation's history that we must never forget. Please say a prayr and pause for a moment today to pay respects to the men and women responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
